if the intention of a meet and greet is to get as many ballers together in one location, why not work with pbp and the tippmann challenge (also a nationals game, with national advertising) to combine it all into one big weekend?? st laurent is pretty much center of canada (btw landmark is actually center of canada...) and camping is available on site.
Location was actually voted on nationally, and not locally. PBP was a choice, but not the field in Manitoba, the field in Saskatchewan that carries the same name, go figure. I think many of the choices were based on where the most operators actually play.
Next year we will not be holding the game here, that location will move around Canada as it does in the American meet and greets. Down south they have no problem in organizing these events, no problems with players attending, etc. And the reason? Many more Operators there. Some of the greatest sportsmanship based organizations like the OSF (Operator:Strike Force) have so few members here in Canada. The Regional CO is actually right here in Winnipeg and so are two "Juno Rifles" Manitoba detachment members.
So "poor planning" is far from the truth. We did our best with the organizers and other people to get this thing off the ground, for the first time EVER in Canadian history. And it was now or never. As Canadian operator we owe it to our membership to get as many players together as possible. If that means there won't be as many as we hope for.... really this isn't the whole point to this event. This is event is to Meet and Greet, and of course to play ball. After the game on Saturday, we'll be at the Boston Pizza in Brandon, making new friends.
Anyone that can make it out, we thank you.
